Max Maths, Year 3, Practice, Review of addition facts
Maths Resource Description
In the 'Max Maths' programme for Year 3, students are invited to review and practice their addition facts through a series of engaging exercises. In the 'Let's Try It' section, pupils are encouraged to complete the addition facts by filling in the missing numbers. The exercises start simply, with questions such as '3 + ___ = ___' and '7 + ___ = ___', and increase in complexity, challenging students to recall their addition facts quickly and accurately.
Moving on to the 'Let's Practise' part of the lesson, students are tasked with adding numbers mentally and completing the blanks. This includes straightforward sums such as '4 + 7 = ___' and '5 + 8 = ___', as well as more complex calculations that involve three numbers, for example, '7 + 6 + 3 = ___' and '1 + 5 + 9 = ___'. The next activity focuses on doubling numbers, where students must mentally calculate and fill in the answers to sums like '5 + 5 = ___' and '9 + 9 = ___'. These exercises are designed to help reinforce mental arithmetic skills and build confidence in basic addition. To further their practice and understanding, students are directed to workbook pages 30 to 33, where they can continue their exploration of addition facts.
