Maths Resource Description
In the Max Maths curriculum for Year 1, children are introduced to the concept of the days of the week in a section titled "Let's Learn Together." This fundamental aspect of time management is taught in a way that connects with the daily experiences of young learners. The lesson begins by explaining that each time we go to sleep at night and wake up, a new day begins. This simple yet relatable explanation sets the stage for understanding the cyclical nature of days.
The lesson proceeds to teach that a standard week consists of seven distinct days. To help children memorise and recognise each day, the names of the days of the week are listed in order: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. This foundational knowledge is essential for children as they learn to organise their activities, understand weekly routines, and develop a sense of time. The lesson is designed to be interactive and engaging, ensuring that young students can easily grasp and remember the sequence of the days of the week.
