Angles and Lines Quiz

The KS2Gems 2023 Year 4 Geometry Quiz is a PowerPoint resource designed to assess and reinforce students' understanding of the properties of shapes, in line with the National Curriculum objectives for Year 4. The quiz consists of 10 questions that challenge students to identify and describe various geometric concepts such as angles, lines of symmetry, and characteristics of shapes. Each question slide is followed by an answer slide, allowing for immediate feedback and learning opportunities.

Questions in the quiz cover a range of topics, including the classification of angles, such as identifying an obtuse angle, and understanding the concept of symmetry by identifying lines of symmetry in a rectangle. Students are asked to recognise perpendicular lines in a given shape and to calculate the degrees in a half and three-quarter turn. The quiz also tests knowledge of regular shapes, distinguishing between acute and obtuse angles within a shape, and identifying pairs of parallel lines. One of the questions prompts students to define and illustrate an acute angle, reinforcing the concept that an acute angle measures less than 90 degrees. The quiz encourages the use of correct mathematical vocabulary and can be used flexibly as a starter, plenary, or assessment tool over several teaching sessions.
