Maths Resource Description
In the 'Fluent in Four' revision exercises designed for Year 3 students during the Summer Term's Week 11, children are presented with a variety of mathematical challenges to reinforce their learning. On Day 4, they are tasked with solving a division problem where 144 is divided by the sum of 3 added four times, and then halved. Additionally, they complete a tally chart by recording the totals for different favourite colours, such as green, orange, red, blue, and yellow. Subtraction problems are also included, requiring students to count back from a larger number, like finding the result of 63 minus 5 or 95 minus 7. To further apply their understanding, they interpret temperatures displayed on thermometers, ranging from 5°C to 25°C.
Continuing with the revision on Day 5, the students tackle a subtraction problem involving hundreds, tens, and ones. They calculate the perimeter of a triangle and determine the length of each side of a square, understanding that the perimeter of the triangle is equal to that of the square. In a practical application of division, they figure out that if Malachi has 28 cakes and brings half to school, he would bring 14 cakes. The exercise also includes matching temperatures to the correct readings on various thermometers, which display temperatures from 0°C to 25°C. This set of activities is designed to sharpen the pupils' arithmetic skills and their ability to interpret and use data from charts and visual aids like thermometers.
