Time - 24-hour clock - Starter
Maths Resource Description
Year 3 students are presented with a set of engaging maths problems as part of their Summer Term Week 5 Day 4 activities. The "Fluent in Four" revision section challenges them with a variety of questions. One task involves solving a division problem, where they must work out what 2 hundreds, 6 ones, and one ten divided by double 36 equals. Additionally, they are asked to scrutinise Zach's clock that reads 15:30 and determine if there is an error. The students explore the concept of the 24-hour clock and realise that 15:30 is indeed a valid time, representing half past three in the afternoon.
Another exercise involves analysing a table that lists the number of Maths homework tasks assigned on each day of the week. Students must calculate the total number of tasks set throughout the week and identify which day had the most homework assigned. The table shows that Thursday has the highest number of tasks. Furthermore, the activity includes completing number facts by adding and comparing numbers, helping to reinforce their arithmetic skills. For example, they learn how to pair numbers to sum up to 86 and understand the relationship between the numbers 80 and 6 in this context.
