Show it! Group presentation - Islamic Civilisation - Year 6
History Resource Description
In a Year 6 educational setting, students are encouraged to engage with the history of early Islamic civilisation, particularly exploring why it is referred to as the Golden Age. Towards the conclusion of their studies, pupils are given the chance to showcase their understanding through presentations to their peers. This exercise not only allows them to demonstrate their knowledge but also to develop their communication and presentation skills. The presentations can be delivered in various formats, including the use of digital tools such as PowerPoint, which staff can prepare in advance to display the ongoing learning journey of the class.
For the task at hand, children are organised into small groups, with no more than six members in each, to ensure effective collaboration and participation. Each group selects a specific topic related to the early Islamic civilisation's Golden Age for their presentation. The topics range from the overall concept of the Golden Age, the life and impact of Prophet Muhammad, the significance of the House of Wisdom, advancements in medicine, to the influence of Mongolian invaders. This array of subjects provides a comprehensive insight into the multifaceted nature of the era, allowing students to delve into the rich tapestry of Islamic history and its enduring legacy.
