Cops and Robbers - What do I know about World War 1 or 2 - Year 6

In an engaging and interactive activity titled "Cops and Robbers," designed for Year 6 pupils, the focus is on recalling and sharing knowledge about World War 1 and World War 2. The pupils are arranged into groups of four and are given two minutes to jot down everything they can remember about either of the world wars on the left side of a chart. This initial step allows the children to independently document their existing knowledge on a significant historical topic.

After recording their own recollections, each pupil is given one minute to review the contributions of their three groupmates. During this phase, they are on the lookout for any new information that they hadn't noted themselves. They then have the opportunity to 'steal' this newfound knowledge by adding it to the 'stolen knowledge' section of their chart. This collaborative learning technique not only reinforces their existing understanding but also encourages them to learn from each other. For each piece of information recorded, pupils are awarded two points, incentivising them to share and acquire as much knowledge as possible. The entire activity is designed to last approximately 15 minutes and serves as a dynamic method to explore the impact of the world wars on Britain.
