History Resource Description
David Olusoga is a distinguished British Nigerian historian who has made significant contributions to the understanding of black British history. He is best known for his authoritative book "Black and British," which elucidates the integral role that black British people have played in the history of Britain. Recognising the importance of reaching younger audiences, Olusoga has also authored "Black and British - A short essential history," tailoring the narrative to be accessible for younger readers and ensuring that the contributions of black Britons are acknowledged from an early age.
Patrick Vernon, hailing from Wolverhampton, has dedicated his career to the healthcare sector and the fight against racism. His notable work includes co-authoring "100 Great Black Britons" with Angelina Osborne. This influential book was conceived as a response to the BBC's "100 Greatest Britons" list, which notably included only one person of colour, Freddie Mercury. The project, which began in 2003, aims to celebrate the myriad contributions of black individuals to British society and serves as a powerful tool for education and recognition of diversity in Britain's historical narrative.
