Show it! Group presentation - Europe - Year 4
Geography Resource Description
In Year 4, students are encouraged to explore and understand the allure of the Mediterranean as a holiday destination for many British people. As part of their learning experience, they are given the chance to showcase their knowledge through group presentations. This culminating activity allows children to delve into various topics related to Europe and present their findings to their classmates. The topics range from the popularity of Mediterranean holidays to the capital cities of Europe, the impact of Brexit, the concept of staycations within the UK, and the rich historical sites scattered throughout the continent.
The presentation can take various forms, with one effective method being the creation of a PowerPoint by staff to illustrate the ongoing learning journey. Children are organised into small groups, with no more than six members, to foster collaboration and ensure everyone can contribute. Each group selects a topic and prepares a presentation, which might begin with a friendly greeting and an introduction to their chosen subject. For instance, a group might start with "Good Morning, I would like to tell you about…" followed by an engaging explanation of why the Mediterranean's sunny shores are so appealing to British holidaymakers. This activity not only enhances their understanding of the subject but also develops their public speaking and presentation skills.
