Let’s Practise Grammar (Pack 2) ( 9-12 years) - Teacher Notes

Guinea Pig Education has created a series of educational booklets titled 'Let's Practise Grammar (Pack 2)' aimed at children between the ages of 9 and 12. These booklets are designed as a practical resource to aid in preparing for Standardised Assessment Tests (SATs), which are a crucial part of their academic assessment during this period. These booklets focus on enhancing the students' skills in grammar, punctuation, and spelling, areas that are critical for success in the SATs.

The guidelines set out by the Standards and Testing Agency specify that pupils have 45 minutes to complete the SATs, with answers recorded in the provided answer booklet. The format of the questions varies, requiring different methods of response. The layout of the answer space guides the students on how to respond, whether it's ticking, drawing lines to, or circling the correct option in multiple-choice questions, or writing out their answers where necessary. The value of each question is indicated by the number of marks available, which is shown alongside the questions. These tests are modelled after the KS2 English Grammar, Punctuation and Spelling Assessment sample papers. Although completing the tests within the 45-minute timeframe is recommended, it ultimately remains the student's choice. Regular practice with these tests is encouraged to improve speed and proficiency.
