English Resource Description
The KS2Gems2022 Grammar and Punctuation Progress Test 1 is an assessment tool tailored for Year 5 students during the autumn term. It is designed to evaluate pupils' understanding of various grammatical concepts within a 20-minute timeframe. The test includes a variety of question types, such as multiple-choice, short answers, and tasks requiring the identification and use of specific parts of speech. For instance, students are asked to recognise relative pronouns, underline relative clauses, and circle adverbs and determiners in given sentences. Each question is allocated a certain number of marks, indicating its weight in the overall score.
Further exercises within the test require students to correctly punctuate sentences and distinguish between personal and relative pronouns. They must also differentiate between coordinating and subordinating conjunctions, and identify possessive pronouns. The test challenges students to fill in sentences with the appropriate relative pronouns and to recognise and tick sentences that contain relative clauses. Additionally, students are tasked with underlining verbs in a sentence and circling the correct adverbs that denote time or place. This comprehensive test is structured to cover a range of key language skills, ensuring a thorough assessment of pupils' grammar and punctuation proficiency.
