The Worlds Worst Children - Lesson 5 - Sofia Sofa Worksheet
English Resource Description
In Lesson 5 of 'The World's Worst Children', students are tasked with an activity that hones their ability to retrieve information from a text. This learning objective is approached in a dynamic and interactive way by dividing the class into two equal groups for a question and answer game. Each student is required to write a question about the story on a piece of paper, which is then collected in a box. The students form two separate circles, with the teacher leading one and the teaching assistant (TA) the other.
During the activity, the teacher or TA poses questions to each child in turn from the box of collected queries. If a student fails to answer correctly, they must sit down. The game continues until only one child remains standing, thus becoming the winner. To ensure a fair challenge and to accommodate the number of questions available, it's permissible to repeat questions. Although students are allowed to refer to the book to find answers, they are under a time constraint and must respond within 5 seconds. This activity not only tests students' recall of the story but also encourages quick thinking and reinforces their familiarity with the text.
