Students are encouraged to delve into the history of flight by researching a notable figure who has made significant contributions to aviation, such as Leonardo Da Vinci, The Wright Brothers, or Amelia Earhart. The task requires them to retrieve, record, and present information, ultimately preparing an informative oral presentation on their chosen individual. This exercise aims to enhance their ability to gather and convey information effectively, while also celebrating the achievements of pioneering aviators.

In another activity, students are tasked with imagining a scenario where a character presents a flying machine design in a Dragon's Den setting. They must consider the key elements that make an oral presentation successful and apply these to create their own presentation about a famous person in the history of flight. The activity is designed to develop their initial ideas and improve public speaking skills. Additionally, students explore the use of cohesive devices in speeches by comparing the rhetoric of Winston Churchill and John F. Kennedy. They are then challenged to create an encouraging speech for the character's father, drawing on the powerful language and repetition used by these historic figures, to inspire perseverance and hope.
