Making Inferences - 2nd Grade and 4; Elementary School English Teaching Resources - Reading 2nd Grade / 3rd Grade Making Inferences is a 19-slide PowerPoint-based lesson which includes three differentiated worksheets and answer keys. It can be used to introduce making inferences for the first time or to consolidate existing knowledge. In this resource, pupils learn what 'infer' and 'inference' mean; they practice making inferences from both pictures and texts and evidence their answers from the source. Teachers should consider the example texts together and use the discussion prompts to assess understanding before assigning the appropriate level worksheet for each pupil. There are three differentiated worksheet activities - Bronze, Silver and Gold. Each level has a different text to read and specific inference questions to answer with evidence.
